Gismondi 1754

An Italian Heritage

“Handmade in Italy, designed for the World”, this is the motto and the basic rule that distinguishes any jewel of Gismondi 1754. To respect an ancient tradition of his family, seven generations of people who have dedicated all their passion to beauty and attention to detail, Massimo Gismondi, continually retraces and rediscovers the ancient wisdom of the goldsmith masters of Valenza Po. To realize his dream, which requires careful and incessant research for excellence to be realized, the artisans of Valenza have had to turn to their grandparents or fathers to rediscover techniques that allow them to set diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and rubies and other stones with a gold thread so thin as to be almost invisible; ancient techniques almost abandoned because too onerous in terms of working hours are constantly rediscovered and reintroduced into a jewel Gismondi 1754, thus enhancing the skills of master craftsmen, and preserving for posterity and customers an Italian heritage that was disappearing.

A Great Story

The story of Gismondi dates back seven generations, when Giovan Battista was born in Genoa in 1754 Gismondi, already introduced to the art of “silver working” at the age of 9, as soon as he got his license, he began his journey that would soon lead him to become a supplier to the Doria family and to Pope Pius VI.

From generation to generation, the art and customer care have passed from hand to hand, until reaching Massimo Gismondi, the first, who decides to dedicate his attention only to jewelry. Encouraged by an ever-increasing success, he leaves the family shop and gradually opens his own shops Portofino and St. Moritz, which put Gismondi 1754 in direct contact with international customers. This is followed by the opening of dealers and some corners in Neiman Marcus in the USA, a dealer in Naples and one in St. Petersburg as well as a shop in Milan inside The Brian & Barry Building in via Durini and a franchise in the famous Pariska in Prague.

We make Gismondi 1754 have been chosen and worn by famous show business stars, from Jane Fonda, to Angela Bassett, to Reese Witherspoon, Gwineth Paltrow, Cardi B, to name just a few. Gismondi 1754, participated in the 2019 Las Vegas International Jewelry Fair, where she was awarded the public prize for one of her necklaces from the collection Essenza.

Creativity and Artisan Excellence

Valenza Po, a unique jewelry manufacturing district in the world where great technical ability and the pursuit of perfection leave room for the sensitivity and creativity of those who know their work thoroughly and love to express themselves in the things they do; Massimo Gismondi seeks and demands this level of involvement from its craftsmen.

The love for “imperfection” is the prerogative only of artisans who, aware of their technical ability, know how to achieve “Beauty”, leaving hidden traces of their mastery in small imperfections visible only under a magnifying glass… this is always found in the jewels of Gismondi 1754.

To make a jewel Gismondi 1754 artisans must demonstrate the ability to be sensitive and creative, an essential element to be in tune with Massimo's stylistic research Gismondi, stones that apparently float in the air, asymmetrical symmetries, unexpected positions and settings of the stones, these are the elements of his research.

One Territory, Infinite Inspiration

…”in my jewels the stones must not give the impression of being symmetrically arranged, because – says Massimo Gismondi- : what are the things you never get tired of looking at? The fire in the fireplace and the sea, because they never stay still and have unexpected shapes that are always new… that's how my jewels should be!”.

Being Ligurian and having grown up in the colours and shapes of the Ligurian Riviera, influences all of Massimo's work. Gismondi, in his love for the colours of the vegetation and the Ligurian sea, the looming mountains overlooking the sea… all this is the source of inspiration for the products of Gismondi 1754, filtered by family stories of travels to the East, small memories of gestures of love… this is the inspiration.
